Charity is important for our world and every people should donate something to help unluckier people. Actually, there are several way to make charity, and lots of no-profit agencies and foundation are ready to help: one of this non profit companies is the Car Angel (www.carangel.com) that accepts car donation (but also motorcycles, boats, planes, and similar). The idea at the basis on Car Angel is very simple: each donated car will be converted into money and the money is used to make videos for kids and teens. Absolutely for FREE. Since its creation, Car Angel has given away over 2.4 million videos like the Donkey Ollie series (www.donkeyollie.com) or Prison Eventually (www.dopethemovie.org), an anti-drug documentary. CarAngel

Charity is always a great thing and every people should think about making charities sometimes. Also a little contribute can help unlucky people...also if it isn't under the form of money. There are lots of methods to make charity and there are also lots of foundations and no-profit agencies that helps people in make non money donation. One of this companies is CarAngel, specialized in Car Donations (but also motorcycles, boats, planes, and similar). The idea is extremely interesting: each donated car goes to raise the funds intended to countless preschool and grade school aged children in the poorest countries of the world (like Columbia, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Mexico, Nigeria, Kenya, Philippines, India and so on).
But why car donation? Because most people have their garages full of unused items like old cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks and also boats...so why left all these things in a garage, maybe for years if you can really use them to help other people? Consider also that, for each car donated, you will receive an IRS tax deduction and the car pickup (running or not) is totally free for you.
But how CarAngel practically uses founds gained from selling there donate cars? The agency creates very nice animations (obviously Free Children's DVDs aer available for the countries listed before) and anti-drug documentaries. You can see some examples in the "project" page, like the splendid Donkey Ollie series (www.donkeyollie.com) that has won several awards or the Death or Prison Eventually (www.dopethemovie.org), an anti-drug documentary. Car Donations is a nice and fast way to make charity...if you have an unused car think about calling CarAngel...don't loose this opportunity...and don't let that oldness and rusts eat your old car.
To know more about this idea or to donate your car you can call Car Angel Ministries Now at 1-800-227-2643 or you can fill out the online car donation form.

USAfundraising.com

All over the world there are lots of no profit associations that live thanks to fundraising like cancer research institutes, animal clinics and so on. And everyday, new fundraising activities are started, thanks to our natural will of helping others. I've thought a couple of time about starting a fundraising here on this blog...but I've discovered that it isn't so simple as it seems. I've made some search over the net, and finally, I've found a very interesting blog, USAfundraising.com totally focused on fundraising: on its pages you can find very interesting new ideas, helpful tips, stories of success, news and a nice community where to share your experience, discuss your ideas on so on.
The site offers a wide range of fundriasing ideas like Cheer, Church, Sports or school fundraisers. There is also a section dedicated to online fundraisers with tips for example about how to create your fundraising website, a section related to events, activities and products that you can relate with fundraising. Obviously there is also a section where you can suggest your ideas. Last but not least, don't forget to take a look also at the Charity fundraising section.

TreeNation

Why are we planting trees in the desert?

We are planting trees in the desert to combat desertification and land degradation. This process will have many positive environmental and humanitarian effects in the following ways:

Positive effects on the environment

- Helping the soil to re-regenerate itself
- Creating a root system which allows the water to surface
- Increasing land's productivity
- Encouraging agricultural forestry
- Off-setting CO2 levels
- Counteract the Global Warming
- Counteract Deforestation

Positive effects on the local communities

- Fighting poverty, 'desertification is potentially the most threatening climate change impacting livelihoods of the poor...combating desertification can therefore contribute significantly to a reduction in global poverty.' www.unccd.int 12/07/2006 - UNCCD
- Fruits, medicine, alimentation and gum production for local communities
- Alimentation for animals
- Park as a meeting point and shelter
- Encouraging more education and efficient farming practices in local communities
- Centre for agro-forestry research and development

What is desertification?

'Desertification is about land degradation: the loss of the land's biological productivity, caused by human-induced factors and climate change. It affects one third of the earth's surface and over a billion people.' United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (IYDD). For more info: www.iydd.org

How is it possible to plant trees in the desert?

There are huge underground water deposits, called aquifers, in the desert which the tree roots can access once they have grown sufficiently. These aquifers that exist below the Sahara desert cover an area of over 2 million square kilometres, an area greater than that of Mexico!

Just think of the many manmade oases that have been created in the past…behind the idyllic vision of these oases is hidden the deliberate and crafted work of man. A clear example is this: the mass tree-planting project that has taken place in the United Arab Emirates over the last decade. Around 130 million trees have been planted in total, and the man responsible: Sheikh Zayed. No wonder the UAE President has been praised as “the man who tamed the desert!”

The combination of advanced agricultural techniques, traditional irrigation systems and innovative vision has been shown to work, bringing to life the awesome wonders of the desert. Ok, so now you’re thinking green, lush, abundant fauna and flora, gorgeous belly dancers? Good.

Well, Tree-Nation will create its own green piece of heaven in Africa. And here’s how…
More on this topic…

How does it work?

Stage 1:
the trees will be planted in local nurseries for the initial period until they reach a suitable point of growth to be planted in the park. This varies depending on the type of tree that you choose.
Stage 2:
your tree will be planted in the park location that you have virtually selected where it will receive continual care and maintenance.
Stage 3:
our local experts will nurture the tree (providing water and nutrients but no chemical fertilizers) on a regular basis using agro-forestry techniques in order to maintain its condition.
Stage 4:
our local experts will manage the harvesting of the fruits and medicines that the tree provides.
Stage 5:
your tree grows happily and the local community benefit from its produce (gum, fruits, alimentation, medicines, etc)
Stage 6:
finally, a hug a day and the tree will grow! You will be able to follow its progress through photos and through the hi-tech facilities on our website.

Where will the park be?

We have chosen to plant our large-scale park in Niger, the poorest country in the world according to the HDI index (177/177 developing countries – (177/177 developing countries – www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UN_Human_Development_Index). Africa, and especially its Sub-Saharan part, is the area that is most affected by desertification and poverty, which is why we are concentrating our efforts in this region.

What do I get when I buy a tree?

You will receive a virtual tree, which corresponds to the real and happy tree that we will plant on your behalf in our park in Niger. This tree will bring real benefits and changes to the lives of those in the local communities. On our interactive website, you can follow the development of the project daily, and as a tree guardian you have the additional benefits:

- Your tree of choice in your desired map location
- Virtual tools to follow the real growth and progress of your tree
- Option to have photos of your tree sent to you
- Additional space for your personal content
- Tree-blog and comments facilities
- Increased storage space for photos
- You can be found by more people looking around our park and the internet
- The ability to share your ideas, promote yourself, your business, your thoughts
- Finally, a warm fuzzy feeling inside!

Do I have to pay for membership?

No. Membership is FREE! You can become a member of our community for free and have access to a range of services in our system: discussion groups, blog access, photo collection, make friends with like-minded people, chat with other members, and generally enjoy the buzzing community vibes! So guys, what exactly are you waiting for?

What kind of trees do we plant?

Primarily we will plant local trees which provide much-needed resources for the local people (fruit, medicinal properties, gum, and alimentation of wildlife).

The local trees that we plant are trees that adapt easily to the regional climate conditions as they have longer and more robust root systems. This allows them to tap into the underground water deposits that lie below the desert. We provide strong, healthy and happy trees that are accustomed to these conditions, such as:
- Baobab
- Acacia
- Ronier
- And more…

How to buy a tree ?

I’m still not convinced that I should buy a tree…

Well, we have no problem with that. We believe you should not commit yourself to anything before being fully convinced. That’s why we have a community of members and we provide all of the facilities for you to talk freely on it. We still strongly encourage you to become a member of the community and participate in discussions and debates. After all, just by being part of the community and discussing the issue, you are already helping.

And at Tree-Nation, we will be very happy if one day you decide to plant a tree with confidence!

Why is Tree-Nation a business?

We are a group of young people who share an idea that it is possible to wake up in the morning with a smile, knowing that the work you do that day can make a real difference. It is this dream that has inspired Tree-Nation; to make a successful business by helping to make the environment a success. We are very proud of being a business and using our business strategies to combat environmental problems. Imagine if 50% of the worlds businesses made their profits from activities that benefited the environment!

Essentially, we hope to inspire others, with as much enthusiasm and drive as all of us, to adopt a similar business philosophy. More than that, we hope that you too will join our Tree-Nation team someday!

Who is Tree-Nation?

Tree-Nation is a trademark of NeoVee Solutions S.L., a dynamic company located in Barcelona, Spain. European managers are working hand in hand with local experts to achieve their main objective: to make business from new life solutions by working with and improving the environment.

CareBadges

A CareBadge is a unique file that we create for you upon purchase and represents your donation and support for the given cause. The CareBadge is unique and assigned to you, or the person that you bought it for. The Carebadge links back to our site and keeps track of the impact of your badge and the progress of the campaign.

CareBadges

CareBadges are Flash-based fund-raising widgets that let you collect money or raise awareness for any cause. The standout feature is tracking: they’ll track how much you’ve raised, but also the “spread” of widgets around the web. So if you post a badge to your page and twenty visitors repost it to their pages, the funds raised by all those referred users will also be logged - it’s like a big affiliate scheme

GoodStorm

The company launched catering primarily to nonprofits, giving charities a way to inexpensively sell custom designed tshirts at a very low wholesale price. The company also launched a widget product last summer.

The new product allows visitors to quickly design their own Tshirt using uploaded or stock images, text and special characters. If you like you can buy just one - a men’s standard Tshirt, designed to your specifications, costs $15.

Store owners can also create their own version of the design tool, with pre-uploaded images and custom pricing. We’ve created one - see the TechCrunch Tshirt store here. Upload your own images and have at it - any proceeds we receive from sales of Tshirts will go to charity.

SixDegrees

SixDegrees is a new site that urges users to donate to celebrity charities and then place a widget on their sites promoting those charities.

Users are urged to add a celebrity widget to their site which is tied to a donation page for a specific charity or charities. Donations made through the widget are tracked and the total is displayed in the widget. Users can also create their own custom widget, sans the celebrity photo.

Bacon goes into detail in the video below about the Six Degrees of Separation movie and the subsequent game making fun of the fact that he’s appeared in so many films.
